Product Review & Swatches | NYX Matte Bronzer in 01 Light / Clair

Hey guys! I'm back with another make up product review.

Awhile ago, in my search for a contour powder, I ordered the NYX Matte Bronzer online. I've had it for three months already so I thought it would be a good time to share my opinions on it. For your reference, I'm a NC20 in MAC.

Product Description: Just in time for Spring and Summer – the Matte Bronzers have arrived! Achieve a natural and healthy complexion using any of the powder bronzers available in five russet shades. Perfect for that desired honey glow all year long!

I purchased this bronzer because it was matte, so I thought it'd be good to contour with. The colour, however, is a bit too reddish (almost slightly peachy) in my opinion to be used as contour. I prefer a darker, more neutral brown. But, bearing in mind that this is actually a bronzer, it's quite excellent for that purpose. The colour seems perfect for an all over sun-kissed look or, as the product description says, a "honey glow" to the face. The powder has no fallouts and is very smooth; it isn't chalky at all. You can probably tell that it's very pigmented, but it's also fairly easy to blend. Since the colour pay-off is so impressive, you only need to apply very minimally. This stays on my face from the moment I put it on till I get back home, which is usually 6-7 hours. It's retailing for $16 SGD online so you really get your money's worth!

I've since found another product that is more appropriate for contour so this has just been resting in my make up box. I'm not really a fan of looking bronzed either. If, like me, you thought this would make a suitable contour powder, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a matte bronzer that warms your face and has great colour pay-off and lasting power, this could be the product for you. It is available in five different shades, so there might just be one for everyone!

Do leave a comment to let me know what you think of this and what product you use to contour. See you in my next post!

  1. great review! i am so clueless when it comes to contouring. i use nars bronzer and it's subtle enough for me whilst also a bit shimmery.

  3. Lovely review with great pictures! It can be reallyy hard finding just the right bronzer. Unlike with foundation where you can just look at your skin tone, when it comes to bronzer what people actually want it to do differs as well x) You made me a bit curious on which bronzer you are using now?
P.S Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog. I'd love to follow each other - I just followed you <3

Yes, I agree it can be quite hard! Right now, I'm actually using the Sleek Face Form in Fair.
It has a blush, highlighter and contour powder. Super convenient!
